Remediation Works are progressing well on a brownfield site partly occupied by a former Gasworks in Kent. The long spell of dry weather has allowed Ecologia’s team to crack on with the excavation and removal of former buried gasworks structures.
Typical gasworks contamination including ‘blue billy hotspots’ and a buried tar tank have been encountered during the excavation of this area.
The tar tank is scheduled to be removed this week whilst excavation of contamination hot spots are on-going. A significant volume of hydrocarbon contaminated soil has been earmarked for ex-situ biological treatment in accordance with the approved strategy. Further activities are planned for the remainder of the site following completion of the demolition activities. Keep reading our post for more updates.
