Acton- West London
Ecologia Environmental Solutions were recently given instruction to undertake the remediation of soil and groundwater at a former factory site in Acton. The site is being redeveloped for residential use and hydrocarbon contamination of the soil and groundwater was identified as being a risk.
The Horsebridge Development – Whitstable
Ecologia Environmental Solutions Ltd were initially appointed by Consultants 2020 to carry out a site investigation and human health and groundwater risk assessments at the Horsebridge Development, Whitstable. This followed the discovery of historical contamination in the soil and groundwater. The investigative work revealed that the
majority of the contamination was restricted to the coarse gravel present at approximately 2.5-2.9 m below ground level.
Industrial Site – Tewskebury
Ecologia Environmental Solutions were given instruction in 2005 to undertake the remediation of two adjacent sites at an industrial estate in Tewkesbury. The ground beneath the sites had become contaminated following a large loss of diesel from a transfer pump. The system, that Ecologia designed and built at its workshop, uses a multi technology
approach to solve the combined problems of:
• free product on the water table;
• soil contamination and dissolved phase contamination.
Domestic Property – Hampshire
A loss of 2000 litres of heating oil occurred adjacent to a grade A chalk stream in Hampshire. The property is located on a chalk stream flood plain. The flint gravels underlying the site allowed the rapid migration of the oil to the chalk stream, which runs through the garden of the property.
The ECOVAC – Factsheet
The ECOVAC remediation unit has been developed and designed by Ecologia to allow rapid implementation of in-situ remediation following pollution incidents or at small sites. Ecologia found a need for a small automated dual phase extraction system during its oil spill response work. The unit was required to be small enough to fit through a standard
doorway and to run from a single 13 amp socket for raid use at domestic properties. Ecologia have developed and improved the design since 2003 and now have a fully operational system that is manufactured in our workshop in Sittingbourne.
Askern Colliery – Doncaster
Askern Colliery was a derelict colliery and coke works, and was identified, with many other colliery sites in Yorkshire, during the 1980s as requiring re-development to encourage local economies and prosperity. The site was re-developed by Yorkshire Forward. The consultant engineer was Carl Bro group, the main contractor was Mowlem Remediation and
the bioremediation was carried out by Ecologia Environmental Solutions Ltd.
Askern Colliery – Doncaster CL:AIRE Report TPD 12
Askern Colliery is located in the town of Askern, approximately 10 miles north of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Askern Colliery was a derelict colliery and coke works, consisting of two shafts with the associated process
and ancillary installations. The site was identified, with many other colliery sites in Yorkshire during the
1980s, as requiring redevelopment to encourage local economies and prosperity. The responsibility of the
redevelopment was placed with the relevant regional development agencies. Askern Colliery fell under the
jurisdiction of Yorkshire Forward.
Great Baddow – East Anglia
Ecologia were asked by 3R to provide bioremediation services for the treatment of 1,500 cubic metres of hydrocarbon contaminated soils at a Persimmon Homes development. The soils had already been subject to ‘bioremediation’ by another contractor but the contaminant concentrations had not changed due to non-aeration of the soils. This case study highlights the need to engineer bioremediation to allow the effective removal of factors that are limiting
the natural degradation of the hydrocarbons and what can be achieved when it is done correctly.
Geotool – Percussive/Geotechnical Drilling Rig Technical Specifications
The Geotool is a percussive drilling rig and dynamic penetrometer used for shallow ground investigation and monitoring well installation in areas with restricted access. The rig is capable of

Geo-easy is a light weight self anchoring 100 kN static and dynamic penetrometer. Ideal for ground investigation when space is restricted and access is limited this ‘state of the art’ geotechnical tool can undertake:
